Deal with Denial | Program of Recovery | 12 x 12
In the past, we denied our addiction by thinking, “I can stop drinking any time!” The truth is that we CAN’T control our drinking. We must remain abstinent.
You may have denied your alcoholism by thinking things like “I can stop any time,” or “If I were an alcoholic, I wouldn’t be able to hold this job or get such good grades in school.”
Do you think you are not like the other people in your Rehab group? Do you think that you are not really “alcoholic?” Maybe you don’t really believe that you need recovery. Or you might think you don’t really need to practice the Twelve Steps. Are there any ways you’re in denial? Talk with your sponsor about what’s blocking you.
